In March,three directors were appointed: Generals Samuel H. PARSONS and Rufus PUTNAM, and Dr. Manasseh CUTLER.

Major Winthrop SARGENT was made secretary, and at a meeting held the following August Gen. James M. VARNUM, of Rhode Island, was made a director and Richard PLATT, of New York, elected treasurer.

As the result of this conference and address, the Ohio Company was formed. Dr Manasseh Cutler, in connection with Winthrop Sargent, was appointed to negotiate a contract with Congress for land.

At the third meeting of the company at Boston, August '29th Dr Cutler i-eported that the contract had been completed.
